Chapter 7 rules are actually very few. You are expected to fill out all paperwork honestly; you must also attend a credit counseling course within 6 months prior to filing for bankruptcy. There are several forms which must be filled out for chapter 7 and you will want to be sure you are very accurate when completing these forms. If you forget to list a creditor, they are not bound by the rules of bankruptcy court. Be sure you are very thorough. Chapter 7 is usually a very quick way to file bankruptcy and discharge normally occurs anywhere from 60 days to 6 months of filing. Most debtors who file chapter 7 don't need to appear in court, but there are exceptions.
