Granted A Chapter 7 Discharge

If you have been granted a Chapter 7 discharge of your debts, your creditors can no longer take any action against you to collect those debts. The creditors must effectively write off your debts, in that you are no longer responsible for repaying them. You can, however, enter into a reaffirmation agreement on a particular debt throughout the course of your bankruptcy, which permits you to resume payments on the debt, and to keep the underlying collateral, in the case of a secured debt. For some people, reaffirmation is a means of keeping an automobile or other item of property that you wish to retain, so long as you can afford to repay the debt. You can also simply make voluntary payments toward a discharged debt, without any formal agreement to do so. In this case, you are not bound to repay the debt, but wish to make voluntary payments toward it.
