Unable To Repay Your Debt

Bankruptcy is an option if you are unable to repay your debt. Chapter 7 bankruptcy may be appropriate for you if you hold a great deal of unsecured debt, you have few or no assets, and you have a relatively low income, with no real ability to repay your debts. On the other hand, Chapter 13 bankruptcy may be a better choice if you have sufficient income to repay at least a portion of your debts, or if you are seeking to retain a certain asset, such as a family home. However, debtors should keep in mind that not all debts are dischargeable through bankruptcy proceedings. Debts such as child support, alimony, student loans, and some tax debts are all debts that typically cannot be discharged through any type of bankruptcy; therefore, if your debts largely consist of non-dischargeable debts, bankruptcy may not be the answer to your debt problems.
